Rams’ Jackson Avoids Criminal Charges Following Domestic Battery Arrest

Comcast Corporation-owned NBC Los Angeles has reported that the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office has not filed a criminal case against Los Angeles Rams offensive lineman Alaric Jackson. This development comes over a month after the player was arrested and accused of felony domestic battery.

While the office currently has no filed case, the situation remains active and subject to future re-evaluation. Legal outcomes for Jackson could still involve alternative measures such as pre-trial diversion classes, restitution payments, or community service. The arrest occurred on June 8 when police responded to a disturbance at Jackson’s residence. Authorities alleged an altercation involving a woman, who reportedly sustained scratch marks on her arms. The incident report included allegations that Jackson attempted to seize a phone and made a disparaging remark regarding the woman’s pregnancy.

Despite the lack of criminal charges at this stage, Jackson remains subject to potential disciplinary measures from the NFL under the league’s personal-conduct policy. The league is conducting its own independent investigation, which could result in penalties regardless of the legal outcome. This is not the first time Jackson has faced off-field scrutiny; earlier in 2024, the NFL suspended him for two games due to allegations involving the non-consensual recording of a sexual encounter. A civil lawsuit related to that incident was filed in November.

On the field, Jackson remains a key asset for the Rams. The team secured his services with a three-year, $57 million contract extension last year. He was a starter for all 16 regular-season games and participated in all three postseason contests during the previous campaign.

Comcast, the media conglomerate that owns the NBCUniversal properties covering this story, is currently trading at $23.19.

What to watch

  • The conclusion of the NFL’s independent investigation into the June 8 incident.
  • Potential announcements from the league regarding discipline under the personal-conduct policy.
  • Updates on the civil lawsuit filed against Jackson in November.
