Detroit Tigers Prospect Anderson Slated for 2026 Futures Game
Infielder Max Anderson, currently developing in the farm system of the Detroit Tigers, has been named to the American League roster for the 2026 MLB All-Star Futures Game. The selection adds to a growing list of Nebraska alumni who have appeared in the showcase event, marking the third time a former Husker has earned the honor in the last four years.
Anderson was a second-round selection in the 2023 draft and now plays for the Toledo Mud Hens, the Tigers’ Triple-A affiliate. Through 57 games this season, he has posted a .307 batting average with a .353 on-base percentage and a .518 slugging percentage. His offensive production includes 70 hits, 13 doubles, 11 home runs, and 36 RBIs. This performance follows a standout senior season at Nebraska where he hit .414.
The Futures Game, scheduled for July 12 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, highlights the sport’s top minor league talent. The event will be broadcast nationally on NBC, a property of Comcast Corporation. As Anderson approaches potential Major League tenure, the exposure on the national stage aligns with the league’s efforts to market rising stars.
Historically, participation in the Futures Game has often preceded a call-up to the majors, a path previously taken by Nebraska alums Alex Gordon, Joba Chamberlain, and Spencer Schwellenbach. For the Tigers organization, Anderson’s progression through Triple-A represents a developing asset within their infield depth.
