Tennessee Baseball Prospects Headline 2026 MLB Draft Interest

The upcoming 2026 MLB Draft is poised to significantly impact the University of Tennessee’s roster, continuing a program trend of sending talent to the professional ranks. The Volunteers have seen at least three players selected in every draft since 2018, and this year appears likely to extend that streak.

Tegan Kuhns, a starting pitcher, is currently projected as a first-round selection. Joining him on MLB.com’s list of the top 250 prospects are infielder Henry Ford, catcher and outfielder Garrett Wright, and relief pitcher Bo Rhudy. Their potential selection highlights the ongoing pipeline of talent moving from the collegiate level to Major League Baseball.

In addition to current roster players, Tennessee’s incoming recruiting class is drawing significant attention. Jared Grindlinger and Trevor Condon are potential top-20 selections. The recruiting class featured 11 invitees to the draft combine. These high school signees face a critical decision in the coming weeks: whether to begin their professional careers immediately or honor their commitments to play college baseball.

The draft is scheduled over two days in July. The first day, covering rounds 1 through 4, begins on July 11. Broadcasting rights for the event are split across several platforms. The first 10 picks will be aired on NBC and Peacock, while the remainder of the first day’s coverage moves to MLB Network and MLB.com. Comcast Corporation, the parent company of NBC, provides the broadcast infrastructure for portions of this coverage through its Media segment.

Round 5 through 20 will take place on the second day, July 12, with coverage available exclusively on MLB.com. Following the draft’s conclusion, teams have until July 27 at 5 p.m. to sign their selected players. Undrafted players remain eligible to sign as free agents until the start of the fall semester.
