Netflix Secures Exclusive Streaming Rights to 2026 MLB Home Run Derby

The landscape of Major League Baseball’s broadcasting distribution is shifting as the league prepares for the 2026 All-Star Week at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. A notable change in the media rights strategy sees the Home Run Derby moving exclusively to a streaming platform. This year’s event, featuring prospects and stars from the Cardinals, Red Sox, Royals, Rays, and Yankees, will be available live on Netflix on Monday, July 13, at 8 p.m. ET.

This streaming-only distribution marks a significant pivot from traditional linear television for one of the league’s premier marquee events. While the Derby moves to digital streaming, the remainder of the All-Star events retain traditional broadcast ties. The MLB Draft and the Futures Game will air on NBC networks, and the All-Star Game itself remains scheduled for Fox on July 14.

The reliance on various network partners remains evident throughout the week’s schedule. NBC will carry coverage of the Futures Game on July 12, while Comcast Corporation, through its cable and sports assets, remains involved in the ecosystem. The Comcast Corporation-owned MLB Network will broadcast the HBCU Swingman Classic and the Red Carpet Show. Additionally, Peacock, Comcast’s streaming service, is listed among the platforms providing supplemental coverage for the MLB Draft.

The market currently values Comcast Corporation at $23.57 per share, reflecting a modest increase of 0.89% in recent trading. The company maintains a significant market capitalization of approximately $83.5 billion, underpinning its role as a major player in the Communication Services and Telecom Services sectors. As media rights continue to fragment between linear and digital outlets, established telecom and media conglomerates like Comcast continue to hold substantial stakes in the sports broadcasting infrastructure.

What to watch

  • Viewer engagement numbers for the Netflix-exclusive Derby broadcast.
  • Upcoming quarterly results from Comcast Corporation regarding Peacock subscription growth and NBC ratings.
  • Future media rights negotiations for MLB events beyond the 2026 season.
