Fox Set to Air World Cup Semifinals as Tournament Enters Final Stages

The FIFA Men’s World Cup has narrowed the field to four nations, setting the stage for the semifinal matchups that will determine who competes for the championship on July 19. The tournament, which kicked off on June 11 with 48 teams across the United States, Mexico, and Canada, is now entering its decisive final week.

The first semifinal features France against Spain on Tuesday, July 14, at 3 p.m. ET. This match will take place at Dallas Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys. The second matchup, scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, also at 3 p.m. ET, will see England face Argentina at Atlanta Stadium.

Domestic viewership for these critical games will be led by Fox Corporation. Both matches will be broadcast on Fox and Telemundo, with streaming availability on Fox One and the Fox Sports apps. Fox Corporation, currently trading with a market capitalization of approximately $23.47 billion, serves as the primary English-language broadcaster for the tournament. The company’s stock was recently down 1.02%, with shares trading near $55.18.

Historically, this semifinal round is unique as it marks the first time in World Cup history that the top four FIFA-ranked teams have all advanced to this stage. France enters the contest as a two-time winner (1998, 2018), relying on tournament scoring leader Kylian Mbappe and teammates Ousmane Dembele and Michael Olise. Spain, the 2010 champion, has allowed only one goal so far, with key contributions from Mikel Oyarzabal and Mikel Merino.

The England-Argentina fixture carries significant historical weight, notably recalling Diego Maradona’s performance in the 1986 quarterfinals. The current Argentina squad is led by Lionel Messi, who shares the tournament’s scoring lead with Mbappe.

The final is scheduled for Sunday, July 19, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, while the third-place match will occur on July 18 in Miami.
