Historically, this semifinal round is unique as it marks the first time in World Cup history that the top four FIFA-ranked teams have all advanced to this stage. France enters the contest as a two-time winner (1998, 2018), relying on tournament scoring leader Kylian Mbappe and teammates Ousmane Dembele and Michael Olise.
