American League Shuts Out National League Behind Bellinger, Vargas

The American League claimed a 4-0 victory over the National League in the 2026 MLB All-Star Game, held Tuesday at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. The win marks the AL’s first triumph in the exhibition since 2024, punctuated by a dominant pitching performance and key offensive contributions from former Los Angeles Dodgers organization members.

Cody Bellinger, now with the New York Yankees, secured the Most Valuable Player Award after delivering a decisive two-run hit against Cristopher Sánchez. These runs accounted for half of the American League’s total output. Bellinger becomes the first Yankee to earn the All-Star MVP honors since Giancarlo Stanton achieved the feat in 2022. The outfielder’s return to the Midsummer Classic marked a significant milestone in his career trajectory following a challenging period with the Dodgers.

“I was like, ‘Oh, I’ll be here every year,’” Bellinger said. “It took a long time to get back. It’s such a competitive league. It’s hard to be an All-Star. Health, performance, it all has to come together.”

Miguel Vargas, another former Dodger prospect currently playing for the Chicago White Sox, provided the final exclamation point with a 433-foot home run off Justin Wrobleski. The blast landed in the second deck of the left field bleachers, sealing the shutout.
