Uno-X Mobility Notches Historic Stage 11 Victory at Tour de France

Norwegian cyclist Soren Waerenskjold secured a surprise victory on Stage 11 of the 2026 Tour de France, delivering the first stage win of his career and a significant milestone for his Uno-X Mobility team. The 26-year-old executed a long-range sprint in the final meters to claim the top spot on a day defined by record-breaking speed.

The peloton raced from Vichy to Nevers over a 161.3km flat route, achieving an average speed of 50.9km per hour. This pace eclipsed the previous Tour de France record of 50.3kph set in 1999. While a sprint finish was anticipated, the dynamic finale unfolded unexpectedly. Cees Bol launched an attack with 500 meters remaining, but as the pack hesitated, Waerenskjold found a gap along the barriers. He surged past Bol with 400 meters left and held off a charging Olav Kooij to win by nearly a bike length.

Despite the intensity of the race, the overall general classification standings remained unchanged. Tadej Pogacar retains the yellow jersey, holding a lead of three minutes and 36 seconds over Jonas Vingegaard.

Waerenskjold’s win marks just the second stage victory for Uno-X Mobility in the event’s history. The performance adds to a strong showing for the team this year, following teammate Torstein Traeen’s two-day stint in the yellow jersey during the opening week. The victory is particularly notable given Waerenskjold’s crash on the previous stage; he started the day as the last rider on the road but recovered to upset established sprint favorites like Jasper Philipsen and Biniam Girmay. Philipsen initially finished third but was later relegated for an infraction during the sprint.

What to watch

  • Stage 12 Preview: The upcoming stage is categorized as flat, suggesting another opportunity for sprinters to contend for a victory.
  • General Classification: As the race progresses, the three-and-a-half-minute gap between Pogacar and Vingegaard remains a key metric to monitor.
