Maiocco indicated that internal sentiment during the offseason program suggested Jones was making a strong push to unseat Green, who started the 2025 season without competition and finished with seven passes defensed and no interceptions.

Maiocco emphasized that Jones likely signed with the intent to claim a starting role, creating pressure on Green to secure his position.
