Tadej Pogacar extended his dominance at the 2026 Tour de France, securing a fifth stage victory with a decisive win on the iconic Alpe d’Huez. The 127.9-kilometer stage from Gap to the legendary Alpine finish saw the UAE Team Emirates rider surge ahead in the final kilometers to finish in 3 hours, 17 minutes, and 57 seconds. This performance further solidifies his position as the overall leader heading into the competition’s final weekend.

The stage featured the shortest mountain route of this year’s event, beginning under clear skies with a Category 2 climb up Col Bayard. French rider Valentin Paret-Peintre was aggressive early, targeting the polka dot jersey points. He continued his effort on the Category 1 Col du Noyer, narrowly beating Richard Carapaz for the summit, though he eventually faded from the breakaway. A leading group held a gap of over four minutes before Pogacar launched his race-winning attack.

Pogacar finished ahead of Lenny Martinez of Bahrain Victorious and EF Education-Easy Post’s Richard Carapaz. Isaac Del Toro, also of UAE Team Emirates, finished seventh. The general classification continues to be led by Pogacar, with Remco Evenepoel of Red Bull – BORA – Hansgrohe sitting in second place. Earlier in the race, Jonas Vingegaard crashed during Stage 15 and was forced to withdraw from the Tour.
