MacIntyre Adjusts Titleist Irons Ahead of FedEx Cup Playoffs

Professional golfer Robert MacIntyre recently revealed that a technical adjustment to his equipment earlier this season negatively impacted his performance, a situation he and his sponsors have since worked to correct. In a statement on social media, the Scottish player admitted that an attempt to upgrade his approach play inadvertently backfired, leading to a search for answers through gear changes rather than swing fundamentals.

MacIntyre explained that following the Texas Open, he began experimenting with his equipment setup, specifically trying to gain an advantage with his irons. This shift caused him to neglect the basic mechanics of his swing. Consequently, his iron play suffered significantly; while he gained strokes on the field in this category in 2025, he is currently losing strokes to the field in 2026.

To address the decline, MacIntyre collaborated with Acushnet Holdings Corp. to tweak his iron specifications after the U.S. Open. Acushnet, the parent company of Titleist, manufactures the gear used by MacIntyre. Since implementing the adjustments, he noted improved results, including a top-three finish at the Scottish Open where he gained 2.5 strokes on approach.

Market Context

MacIntyre’s reliance on Titleist equipment places him among the professional athletes utilizing products from Acushnet Holdings Corp. The company operates through segments including Titleist Golf Equipment and FootJoy Golf Wear. As of the latest market check, Acushnet Holdings Corp. is trading at $104.66, down 0.73% from the previous close of $105.43. The firm holds a market capitalization of approximately $6.13 billion and operates within the Consumer Cyclical sector.
