Miami Dolphins to Try Out UFL Standout Jack Plummer

The Miami Dolphins are continuing to evaluate their quarterback options ahead of the 2026 season. According to a report from NBC Houston’s Aaron Wilson, the team is scheduled to work out free agent Jack Plummer next week. This move comes as the organization prepares for training camp with a roster that currently includes Malik Willis, Quinn Ewers, Cam Miller, and rookie Mark Gronowski.

Plummer brings a strong pedigree from the United Football League (UFL), where he played for the Orlando Storm. During the 2026 UFL season, he led the league in passing yards (2,188) and passer rating (104.2). His 17 touchdown passes ranked second in the league, while he threw only one interception. Prior to his success in the UFL, Plummer went undrafted out of Louisville in 2024. He spent his rookie season on the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad before sitting out the 2025 season.

The 49ers also hosted a workout for Plummer earlier this week, indicating broader interest around the league. His college career included stops at Purdue and California before transferring to Louisville for his final season. There, he led the Cardinals to the 2023 ACC Championship game and an appearance in the Holiday Bowl.

Should he perform well, Plummer could potentially compete for a backup spot behind presumed starter Malik Willis. Dolphins General Manager Jon-Eric Sullivan has publicly stated a philosophy of consistently investing in the quarterback position. While the team did not select a passer in the recent draft, the upcoming workout suggests they remain active in the market for talent at the position. The Dolphins are a franchise owned by Comcast Corporation through its stake in Hard Rock Stadium.
