Equipment Insight: Acushnet Gear Powers Koivun to Historic 3M Open Win
Rookie Jackson Koivun secured his first PGA Tour victory at the 2026 3M Open, carding a tournament record 25-under par. While his mental fortitude was tested by charges from World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, it was the 21-year-old’s precision with his Acushnet Holdings Corp. equipment that ultimately secured the win.
Koivun’s performance was highlighted by elite ball-striking statistics. He led the field in strokes gained/approach, relying on a set of Titleist 620 MB prototype irons (5-9) to attack pins throughout the week. This iron play was complemented by exceptional driving accuracy; he hit 44 of 56 fairways using his Titleist GT2 driver, tied for eighth-best in the field.
A pivotal moment in the tournament came on Saturday when Koivun utilized a Titleist GTS prototype 3-wood (15 degrees) to land a 305-yard approach within 12 feet, setting up an eagle. He continued to leverage this distance and control into Sunday, culminating in a 233-yard 5-iron shot on the par-5 18th that set up his second eagle of the final round.
Acushnet, the parent company of the Titleist brand, manufactures the drivers, fairways, and irons used in the victory. The company also produces the Titleist Pro V1 golf ball Koivun had in play. Acushnet Holdings Corp. designs, develops, and distributes these products across global markets, operating primarily through its Titleist Golf Equipment and FootJoy Golf Wear segments.
As the market digests the performance visibility from the win, shares of Acushnet were recently trading at $104.66.
