AIG Women’s Open Set to Begin with Record Prize Money and Expanded Broadcast Coverage

The final major championship of the women’s golf season commences this week at Royal Lytham & St. Annes, coinciding with the event’s 50th anniversary. A field of 144 players will compete for a record $10 million purse, marking a significant financial milestone for the tournament.

Headlining the competition are Nelly Korda and Haeran Ryu, who have established themselves as the dominant figures in the women’s game this year. Both players have already claimed two major trophies apiece in 2026. Defending champion Miyu Yamashita returns to attempt a repeat victory, while Charley Hull, last year’s runner-up, seeks her first major title.

Broadcast coverage for the event will be extensive across the networks owned by Comcast Corporation. All four rounds of the tournament will be available for streaming on mobile platforms via the Golf Channel application. Television coverage will feature a split network approach: Golf Channel and USA Sports will broadcast the first two rounds. For the weekend rounds, USA Sports will carry the action on Saturday before coverage shifts to NBC on Sunday.

Scheduled TV Times (ET):

  • Thursday, July 30 (Round 1): 4:00 AM – 8:00 AM on Golf Channel; 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM on USA Sports.
  • Friday, July 31 (Round 2): 4:00 AM – 8:00 AM on Golf Channel; 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM on USA Sports.

As the tournament tees off, Comcast continues to trade in the Communication Services sector. The company’s stock closed at $24.24, with the current price sitting at $24.61, reflecting a daily increase of 1.53%. Comcast boasts a market capitalization of approximately $80.9 billion. As the parent company of Golf Channel, NBC, and USA Sports, the media giant stands to capture viewership interest throughout the four-day event.
