MLB Adjusts August and September Broadcast Windows for NBC and Peacock
Comcast Corporation and Major League Baseball have finalized the first wave of schedule flexes for the 2026 Sunday Night Baseball season. The adjustments will alter broadcast times and networks for several matchups in late August and early September, impacting both linear and streaming viewership.
On Sunday, August 30, the broadcast slate will shift significantly. A primetime NL Central matchup between the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs will headline the evening at 7 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. Meanwhile, the previously primetime game between the Houston Astros and New York Mets will move to a 3 p.m. ET window, remaining available on both NBC and Peacock.
The scheduling adjustments continue into September. On Sunday, September 6, an AL Central rivalry will take center stage as the Chicago White Sox host the Minnesota Twins at 6 p.m. ET. This contest will be broadcast across Peacock and NBCSN. Concurrently, the Toronto Blue Jays and Kansas City Royals will face off at 7 p.m. ET, though that game will be restricted to local market broadcasts and MLB.TV.
These programming decisions come as Comcast Corporation continues to leverage its multi-platform strategy. The company’s stock was recently trading at $24.52, reflecting a session increase of 1.18%. With a market capitalization of approximately $80.91 billion, Comcast’s media segment remains a critical component of its overall portfolio, utilizing flexible scheduling to maximize audience engagement across its Residential Connectivity and Platforms divisions.
