Kentucky Alumni Squad to Face Davis Steel in TBT Final on Fox
The Basketball Tournament (TBT) will conclude its 2026 season this weekend with a championship game featuring a prominent college alumni program. La Familia, the collective of former University of Kentucky players, advanced to the title game for the first time in the team’s history. They will compete for a $2 million winner-take-all prize on Sunday, August 2, at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington.
Standing in their way is Davis Steel, a squad competing on the “non-alumni” side of the bracket. Davis Steel secured its spot in the final with a 71-69 victory over The Mecca on Thursday night. The win was sealed by a Terrell Brown 3-pointer that capped a decisive 7-0 run to close the contest under the tournament’s Elam Ending format.
The matchup provides a layer of redemption for the Kentucky alumni. Last year, Davis Steel—then competing under the name Eberlein Drive—eliminated La Familia in the Sweet 16 with a 71-70 decision. La Familia enters the final fresh off a 78-65 semifinal win over JHX Hoops, the alumni team for the University of Kansas.
Fox Corporation is set to broadcast the championship game. The broadcast is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET on the Fox network, with streaming available via the Fox Sports App. Fox Corporation, currently valued with a market capitalization exceeding $24 billion, operates extensively in the sports broadcasting sector, serving as a primary distributor for major live sporting events.
Davis Steel’s roster features a mix of players from various collegiate programs, including Hassani Gravett (South Carolina), Gabe York (Arizona), and DJ Rodman (USC and Washington State). The team will look to replicate its previous success against the Kentucky lineup, which includes former Wildcats stars.
