Rusty Wallace to Grand Marshal American Flat Track Event at Sturgis Rally

Progressive American Flat Track (AFT) has named NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace as the Grand Marshal for the upcoming Caterpillar Jackpine Gypsies Short Track. The event is scheduled for Monday, August 10, taking place at the historic Jackpine Gypsies Motorcycle Club in Sturgis, South Dakota. This race is part of a doubleheader weekend held during the 86th annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Wallace, a celebrated figure in motorsports with 55 NASCAR Cup Series victories and the 1989 series championship, is also an avid motorcyclist. Beyond his ceremonial duties at the track, he will lead the Rusty Wallace Charity Ride presented by Harley-Davidson on Friday, August 14, in nearby Deadwood. Proceeds from the charity ride are designated for The NASCAR Foundation and Special Olympics of South Dakota.

The Sturgis weekend marks a significant convergence of motorsports disciplines. The racing action begins on Saturday, August 8, with the Caterpillar Jackpine Gypsies Super TT, featuring inaugural NASCAR Truck Series Champion Mike Skinner as Grand Marshal. The schedule concludes with the Short Track event on August 10. Wallace noted his enthusiasm for the combination of the Sturgis atmosphere and short-track competition.
