NBC’s ‘Football Night in America’ to Hit Road Weekly in 2026; Florio Limits Travel
NBC Sports is undertaking a significant shift in its NFL pregame production strategy for the 2026 season. “Football Night in America” (FNIA) will broadcast from a different location every week, abandoning the hybrid model that previously kept the primary panel based in Stamford, Connecticut. This move marks the first time the show will maintain a fully itinerant schedule throughout the entire season.
However, not all talent will be present for every stop. Mike Florio, the NFL insider and founder of ProFootballTalk, confirmed he will not be traveling to all 18 road locations. Florio plans to select which games to attend based on proximity to his home in West Virginia, opting to utilize his professional-grade home studio for more distant assignments.
The decision is driven by productivity concerns regarding his other duties, specifically “PFT Live” and the editorial management of ProFootballTalk. Florio noted that extensive travel disrupts his workflow. During the 2020 and 2021 seasons, he successfully operated entirely from his home facility, a setup that he says is virtually indistinguishable to viewers from the NBC studios.
This scheduling adjustment arrives amid a broader overhaul of the FNIA broadcast team. The network has seen the departure of several longtime analysts, including Tony Dungy, Rodney Harrison, and Jac Collinsworth, who previously manned the show’s satellite desk. Fantasy analyst Matthew Berry and Chris Simms also exited the program. The revamped format is expected to center around a main desk featuring personalities such as Maria Taylor.
The changes are being implemented by Comcast Corporation, the parent company of NBC Sports. Shares of Comcast are currently trading at $24.43, reflecting a decline of 1.07% from the previous close. The company has a market capitalization of approximately $87.15 billion and operates within the Communication Services sector.
