Giants Broadcaster Mike Krukow Sets 2026 Retirement Date

Longtime San Francisco Giants broadcaster Mike Krukow has revealed plans to retire from the booth following the conclusion of the 2026 season. The announcement marks the end of a significant era for the franchise, as Krukow has spent nearly four decades as the voice of the team.

Krukow, 74, confirmed the timeline in a statement shared by the organization, expressing gratitude to fans and the team. He noted that while the transition brings emotional challenges, he and his wife Jennifer view their extensive tenure with the organization as a blessing. His departure will conclude a 36-year broadcasting career, much of it spent alongside partner Duane Kuiper on NBC Sports Bay Area and KNBR radio. Krukow’s work has earned him 13 Emmy Awards and multiple nominations for the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Ford C. Frick Award.

Giants president and CEO Larry Baer highlighted Krukow’s status as a “Forever Giant,” emphasizing the broadcaster’s role as an ambassador for the franchise. Baer noted that Krukow’s influence extends beyond the booth and has helped shape the organization’s character for generations.

Before transitioning to media in 1990, Krukow played seven seasons as a pitcher for San Francisco after beginning his career with the Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies. He earned an All-Star selection in 1986.

The announcement arrives during a difficult stretch for the Giants on the field. The team currently holds a 48-67 record and recently traded infielder Luis Arraez, one of its top performers, ahead of the deadline. Krukow’s broadcasts are carried regionally by NBC Sports Bay Area, a network owned by Comcast Corporation. Comcast shares were trading at $25.14 on Thursday, up approximately 1.1%.
