Ravens Embrace High-Intensity Physicality During Extended Training Camp Session
The Baltimore Ravens pushed their roster to the limit on Thursday, conducting their longest and most physical practice of the summer at the team’s Under Armour Performance Center in Owings Mills, Maryland. Head coach Jesse Minter intentionally designed the session to test the players’ endurance and mental toughness, extending the workout past the two-hour mark for the first time during this training camp.
Following rainy weather on Wednesday that increased humidity, the intensity on the field rose sharply. Tempers flared during several competitive drills, including an exchange between tight end Mark Andrews and edge rusher Trey Hendrickson. Other skirmishes occurred between center Ethan Pocic and linebacker Reid Williford, as well as a post-play scrap involving edge rusher Tavius Robinson and offensive linemen Carson Vinson and John Simpson. Minter quickly halted the latter altercation to reset the team’s focus, later expressing approval for the competitive energy while emphasizing the need for composure.
The session featured extended drive drills designed to simulate fatigue, requiring the offense to execute eight or nine consecutive plays regardless of the situation. The practice concluded with live tackling drills, where rookie running back Adam Randall handled the final three offensive touches. He was tackled twice, including a hard hit by cornerback Marquise Robinson, before securing a touchdown reception from Skyler Thompson. Offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley and defensive tackle C.J. Okoye both left early due to the grueling nature of the workout.
The team’s home facility, the Under Armour Performance Center, serves as the daily training ground for the franchise as they prepare for the upcoming season. The facility is named after the Baltimore-based Under Armour, Inc., a key partner in the sports apparel and equipment industry. Shares of Under Armour are currently trading lower, with the stock down 5.03% today.
