Comcast Secures Expanded MLB Rights Through 2026; Fantasy Managers Eye Prospects
Comcast Corporation (CMCSA) has finalized a new agreement that will see Major League Baseball (MLB) return to the company’s NBC and Peacock platforms beginning in 2026. The deal establishes Peacock as the exclusive home of Sunday Night Baseball. Beyond the weekly primetime slot, the package includes NBC Sports’ broadcast of the Sunday Leadoff game, as well as Opening Day and Labor Day primetime matchups. The agreement also encompasses television rights for the first round of the MLB Draft and the entire Wild Card round of the postseason.
Currently, Comcast Corporation shares are trading at $25.35, up 0.94% from the previous close of $25.12. The company holds a market capitalization of approximately $87.15 billion. Operating within the Communication Services sector and the Telecom Services industry, Comcast continues to integrate live sports properties into its media and residential connectivity segments.
Meanwhile, as the MLB season progresses, fantasy baseball managers are adjusting their rosters based on recent call-ups and player performance. Analysts are monitoring prospects who are rostered in less than 40% of Yahoo! leagues. New York Yankees shortstop George Lombard Jr. has garnered attention following his debut. While his defense suggests regular playing time, his offensive development remains a work in progress, with evaluators noting high swing-and-miss rates despite power potential displayed at the Triple-A level.
San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee is also seeing increased interest after remaining with the team through the trade deadline. Hitting second in the lineup, Lee has provided solid production across multiple categories since the All-Star break. In the American League, Mickey Moniak of the Colorado Rockies has secured a regular spot in the lineup, recording 19 home runs and 52 RBIs this season, while Lawrence Butler of the Oakland Athletics offers power upside as a regular fixture in the outfield.
