Red Sox, Royals Set for 2027 Field of Dreams Showcase in Iowa

Major League Baseball has slated the Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals to face off in the 2027 “MLB at Field of Dreams” game. The contest is scheduled for August 12 at the iconic movie site in Dyersville, Iowa, marking the fourth iteration of the event since its inception in 2021.

The matchup will serve as a Royals home game and will be broadcast nationally by Comcast Corporation subsidiary NBC Sports. For Boston, the Iowa game splits a road trip; the team is set to play the Chicago White Sox from August 9-11 before traveling to Dyersville. Following the special event, Boston and Kansas City will complete the series with a doubleheader on Saturday, August 14, at Kauffman Stadium.

The Dyersville site, constructed near the original movie location and surrounded by cornfields, has become a staple of MLB’s scheduling efforts to generate unique viewing experiences. The most recent game, held Thursday night between the Philadelphia Phillies and Minnesota Twins, drew 7,163 fans.

For the Red Sox organization, this adds to a roster of high-profile international and specialty appearances in recent decades. Past events include the Little League Classic in Williamsport (2022), the London Series (2019), and season openers in Tokyo (2008). The team has also conducted spring training in the Dominican Republic and Mexico.
