David Warner Fined A$1,500 After Pleading Guilty to Drink Driving

Former Australia cricket star David Warner has received a fine and a court-mandated interlock device for his vehicle after pleading guilty to a drink driving charge. The incident occurred in April during Easter weekend, when Warner was driving his family home from a social event.

According to the Waverley Local Court, the 39-year-old recorded a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit during a random breath test. Court proceedings detailed that Warner attempted to switch seats with a female passenger after noticing the roadside testing site. Judge Clare Farnan imposed a fine of A$1,500 and noted the presence of children in the car as an aggravating factor, though she stated she does not expect Warner to re-offend.

Warner retired from international cricket in 2024 following a distinguished career that included 112 Tests, 161 one-day internationals, and 110 T20Is. Despite stepping away from the national team, he remains active in the sport as captain of the Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League.
