While media negotiations point to future growth, current on-field rosters are dealing with immediate volatility. The New York Yankees placed starting pitcher Max Fried on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to August 14, due to a left elbow bone bruise. This injury mirrors the issue that previously sidelined the left-hander for 10 weeks earlier in the campaign. Fried had recently returned to form, posting 29 strikeouts over 24 2/3 innings while allowing only five runs across five starts.
