Dodgers Advance Pitching Prospect Cam Leiter to High-A

The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to develop their pitching depth, announcing the promotion of right-hander Cam Leiter from Class-A Ontario to the High-A Great Lakes. The move, confirmed Thursday, escalates the development of a second-round draft choice who missed the entire 2025 season due to shoulder surgery.

Leiter, selected 65th overall in last year’s draft out of Florida State, signed for $1,346,600 despite not having pitched competitively since his surgery in October 2024. Prior to the draft, he threw a bullpen session for scouts, displaying enough velocity to convince the Dodgers to invest in his return to health.

The investment appears to be yielding early returns. In 18 starts across the California League, Leiter posted a 3.09 ERA over 43.2 innings. He held opposing batters to a .197 average while recording 66 strikeouts against 22 walks. Reports indicate his fastball has returned to pre-surgery velocities, touching 98 mph in his most recent outing on Aug. 16.

Leiter comes from a notable baseball lineage. He is the nephew of former MLB pitchers Al and Mark Leiter, and his cousins include Mark Leiter Jr. and Jack Leiter. Scouts have previously noted his fastball sits at 95-96 mph and praised his curveball and slider as plus offerings.

The Dodgers’ parent organization, Comcast Corporation, continues to field a competitive roster as it navigates a broader media and sports landscape. Currently, Comcast shares are trading at $26.42, reflecting a slight decline of 0.49% from the previous close.
