Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has arrived for the new Premier League season with a noticeably different appearance, having shed his iconic long hair. The 26-year-old forward showcased a close-cropped look on social media ahead of the club’s campaign opener against Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium.

Haaland documented the change on his accounts, posting images of the process with captions such as “New season, new trim” and “Short hair don’t care.” The alteration marks a visual shift for the striker, who previously sported flowing blond locks. He took to the pitch with the new style just hours after the social media reveal.

The decision to cut the hair comes after Haaland previously discussed advice from retired Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic. During a July interview on Fox Corporation, Haaland recounted that Ibrahimovic had told him, “Never cut your hair because the strength is in the hair.” Despite that guidance from a fellow Scandinavian striker, Haaland opted for the shorter style for the start of the 2025/26 season.
