Red Sox Outfielder Anthony Eyes Return; Dodgers’ Pages Out with Fractured Hand
The Boston Red Sox are preparing for the imminent return of top prospect Roman Anthony, while the Los Angeles Dodgers face a roster setback after outfielder Andy Pages was diagnosed with a fractured left hand. These roster moves come as the regular season heads toward its final stretch, impacting both team strategies and fantasy lineups.
Anthony, a 22-year-old outfielder who has been sidelined since May 4 with a partially torn tendon in his finger, is progressing through a rehab assignment. After starting with Double-A Portland, he is moving to Triple-A Worcester. In his initial rehab game, he went 2-for-2 with a home run and two walks. He may require only a few more at-bats before rejoining the Red Sox, potentially during their upcoming series in New York.
Conversely, the Dodgers will be without Pages for approximately four to five weeks. X-rays confirmed the fracture after he was hit by a pitch on Friday. The team has placed him on the 10-day injured list following a minor surgical procedure, with the goal of his return coinciding with the start of the postseason. To fill the roster spot, Los Angeles recalled Alek Thomas.
There is positive news for the Dodgers behind the plate, as catcher Will Smith has been cleared for a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City. Smith has been out since mid-June due to a neck injury. The team expects he will only need a handful of games before returning to the lineup.
Looking ahead, the media landscape for baseball is shifting. NBC Sports is set to become the exclusive home of Sunday Night Baseball starting in 2026. This agreement, involving parent company Comcast Corporation, will also include broadcasts of Opening Day, Labor Day primetime games, the MLB Draft, and the entire Wild Card round of the postseason.
Currently, Comcast Corporation (CMCSA) is trading up 0.67% on the day.
