To fill the roster spot, Los Angeles recalled Alek Thomas.

There is positive news for the Dodgers behind the plate, as catcher Will Smith has been cleared for a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City. Smith has been out since mid-June due to a neck injury. The team expects he will only need a handful of games before returning to the lineup.
