In a display of endurance ending in a pure sprint, former Fort Collins High School track standout Lauren Gregory secured a victory at the Orsières–Champex–Chamonix (OCC) on Aug. 27. The event is part of the Hoka Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc festival, a prestigious series of trail races navigating the rugged terrain of the Swiss and French Alps.

Gregory tackled the 60-kilometer course, covering approximately 37 miles of mountain trails. Despite the grueling distance, the race was decided by a margin of less than three seconds. Gregory entered the final few kilometers in third place before executing a late surge. She overtook race leader Naomi Lang in the final kilometer to claim the win. Her official finishing time was 6 hours, 8 minutes, and 7 seconds.
