NBC’s long-running competition series American Ninja Warrior crowned a new champion on August 31, as Josiah Pippel outlasted the field to win Season 18 — capping the victory on his 20th birthday and collecting the $250,000 grand prize.

Speaking after the win, Pippel described the moment as the culmination of 13 years in the sport, and framed the season as a turnaround following a disappointing stretch in Season 17. He said his approach throughout was to run his own race rather than adjust to his competitors, and indicated that a portion of his prize money is earmarked for his business.

American Ninja Warrior airs on NBC, a network within Comcast Corporation (CMCSA), whose shares closed recently at $26.30, down about 0.3% on the day, with a market capitalization of roughly $94.4 billion.
