Mark Sanchez to enter guilty plea in Indianapolis stabbing case as civil dispute with Fox nears resolution

Former NFL quarterback and onetime Fox Corporation broadcaster Mark Sanchez is expected to plead guilty in connection with an October 2025 altercation in Indianapolis that left both him and a truck driver hospitalized, according to online court records.

A motion filed Thursday seeks a combined guilty plea and sentencing hearing, with a spokesperson for the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office saying the office has requested the hearing take place in November. It remains unclear which of the charges against Sanchez — felony battery along with misdemeanor counts of battery resulting in bodily injury, unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication — he intends to admit to.

Sanchez had been scheduled to stand trial on Sept. 8. Separately, truck driver Perry Tole has filed a civil suit naming both Sanchez and Fox Corporation as defendants over the incident.

Nick Sanchez Jr., the former quarterback’s brother and legal adviser, said in a statement that the family is “finalizing an agreement with the prosecutor’s office” and cited “constructive conversations” on the civil side, adding there is “real momentum toward bringing this entire chapter to a close.”

Matt Golitko, an attorney for Tole, said discussions with Sanchez’s team have been productive and that Tole “looks forward to an amicable resolution.”

Background on the incident

According to police and prosecutors, the dispute began shortly after midnight on Oct. 4, 2025, at a hotel loading dock. Court records allege Sanchez climbed into Tole’s truck and blocked him from calling for help before a fight broke out. Tole’s attorney has said his client stabbed Sanchez in self-defense; Sanchez suffered multiple stab wounds to his torso, while Tole sustained a severe laceration to his face.

At the time, Sanchez was working as a Fox Sports color commentator and was in Indianapolis to call a Las Vegas Raiders–Indianapolis Colts game at Lucas Oil Stadium. Fox Sports subsequently parted ways with him in the weeks that followed.

The prosecutor’s office declined further comment, stating only that its “priority remains securing justice for Mr. Tole.”

Market context

Fox Corporation, which employed Sanchez as a broadcaster before cutting ties after the incident, saw shares trade at $67.71 recently, up 1.8% from the prior close of $66.51, valuing the entertainment and sports media company at roughly $27.7 billion.
