From Gotham FC to the Giants: The Rise of Carolyn Tisch Blodgett in Sports Ownership

Carolyn Tisch Blodgett has spent recent years quietly assembling one of the more varied portfolios in modern sports ownership — and the third-generation Giants heir is increasingly viewed as a potential future face of the family’s NFL franchise.

Defending a Championship First

At present, much of her attention is on Gotham FC, the National Women’s Soccer League club she joined in 2023 alongside her family and has governed as primary owner ever since. The defending NWSL champions are unbeaten since July 4, the longest such run in franchise history, and currently sit atop the standings with the regular season set to conclude Nov. 1.

A Family Legacy With the Giants

Tisch Blodgett is a co-owner of the New York Giants and serves as a strategic advisor to the team. Her grandfather, Bob Tisch, purchased half of the franchise from the Mara family in 1991 for $75 million — a deal that drew widespread skepticism at the time. “People laughed him out of town,” she told Front Office Sports, recalling that the purchase was regarded as a hobby rather than an investment. The franchise was recently valued at more than $10 billion following the sale of a minority stake to the Koch family.

Building a Broader Sports Portfolio

Beyond the Giants, Tisch Blodgett is CEO of Next Three Ventures, the investment firm she launched in 2021 after departing Peloton, where she had served as global head of marketing. Peloton (NASDAQ: PTON) currently trades at $5.40, up 0.19% on the day, with a market capitalization of roughly $2.39 billion.

Next Three’s holdings span League One Volleyball, TMRW Sports and its indoor golf venture TGL, the Los Angeles Golf Club, the U.S. SailGP team, the Women’s Lacrosse League, and Jackpot.com. This summer, the firm participated in a $100 million Series E funding round for the Premier Lacrosse League, alongside Ares Management, Nets owner Joe Tsai, and Wrexham co-owner Rob Mac.

Tisch Blodgett has described the firm as a way to sharpen the family’s approach to the Giants, offering a window into how technology and fandom are evolving across sports.

A Path Toward Leadership?

Industry figures see a broad skill set in her trajectory. Jessica Gelman, CEO of Kraft Analytics Group and co-founder of the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, told FOS that Tisch Blodgett’s ability to both build and grow brands positions her to potentially lead the Giants in the future. Tisch Blodgett already holds an ownership stake in the team, though she has not disclosed its size. Her uncle, co-owner Steve Tisch, faced public scrutiny earlier this year after emails released by the U.S. Department of Justice surfaced.
