Drew Brees Expands Media Portfolio with SiriusXM Radio Role
Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is adding another broadcast commitment to a rapidly growing media schedule, signing on as a co-host of SiriusXM’s weekly NFL program Let’s Go! alongside Matthew Stafford, veteran interviewer Jim Gray, and longtime sportswriter Peter King.
Brees takes the co-host seat previously held by Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby. Neither SiriusXM nor Crosby has publicly explained the switch, though Crosby remains active in other media ventures, including The Rush Podcast, which he co-hosts with Brogan Roback and Darien Terrell.
The radio gig comes as Brees prepares for his first full season as an NFL game analyst at Fox, where he is paired with play-by-play voice Adam Amin. The 47-year-old’s broadcasting career has followed a winding path: he joined NBC shortly after retiring following the 2020 season, working Notre Dame football telecasts and the Football Night in America studio show before the partnership ended after roughly one season. His return to the booth this year has drawn attention for a smoother, more conversational on-air style than his earlier NBC stint.
SiriusXM’s NFL lineup is also adding several other names this season. New York Giants defensive tackle Shelby Harris, New York Jets linebacker Demario Davis, and free-agent receiver Brandin Cooks will rotate as hosts on The Players’ Point, a weekly show the company bills as the only radio program hosted by active NFL players, joining holdovers J.J. Jansen of the Carolina Panthers and Alec Ingold of the Los Angeles Chargers. Former Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams receiver Adam Thielen, who retired earlier this year after 13 NFL seasons, will host Airing It Out with Bob Papa on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon ET.
The moves reflect continued investment by audio companies in live sports talent. SiriusXM competes in the audio space against larger media and telecom players such as Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA), whose shares closed recently at $26.49, down 0.64% on the session, with a market capitalization of roughly $94.4 billion. As a satellite radio and streaming subscription business, SiriusXM has leaned on exclusive NFL programming and recognizable on-air personalities to differentiate its audio offerings in a crowded market.
For Brees, the SiriusXM role adds a weekly national platform on top of his Sunday responsibilities in the Fox booth, extending a second career that has already spanned two major networks within five years of retirement.
