White Sox Rout Twins 10-1 in Sunday Night Broadcast Shifted to Peacock

The Chicago White Sox closed out their series against the Minnesota Twins with a lopsided 10-1 victory at Rate Field on Sunday, in a nationally slotted game that streamed on Peacock rather than airing on traditional linear television.

The matchup, part of the Sunday Night Baseball package, kicked off at an unusual 5:20 p.m. Central start time and was available primarily through NBCUniversal’s streaming platform — a distribution choice that places the broadcast under Comcast‘s media umbrella. Comcast shares traded at $26.49 in recent action, down 0.64% from a previous close of $26.66, valuing the telecom and media giant at roughly $94.4 billion. The company operates across connectivity, media, studios, and theme parks, with Peacock sitting within its Media segment as streaming continues to absorb marquee live sports rights.

On the field, the game began as a pitching duel. Chicago deployed a bullpen game while Minnesota handed the ball to Bailey Ober. The two sides — among the American League’s top offenses by runs per game — combined for four and a half scoreless innings before the White Sox broke through in the fifth. Sam Antonacci doubled off Ober, and Munetaka Murakami followed with a two-bagger of his own to put Chicago ahead 1-0.

Twins manager Derek Shelton turned to Kody Funderburk to limit Southpaws’ exposure to Ober’s pitch mix a third time, and the reliever worked out of an early walk. But in the sixth, a Tristan Peters double and a Chase Meidroth walk set the table. After a strong defensive play from Royce Lewis at first base, Antonacci delivered a two-run single through the middle, and an intentional pass to Murakami backfired when Randal Grichuk singled home another run, stretching the lead to 4-0.

Minnesota’s lone highlight came just before the seventh-inning stretch, when Brooks Lee launched a 425-foot home run to right-center field. Any momentum evaporated quickly: Taylor Rogers loaded the bases, and Garrett Acton forced in a run with a walk to Miguel Vargas, making it 5-1. The White Sox piled on from there, ultimately cruising to the 10-1 final and a series-clinching win.
