Wright, a vocal defender of Mahomes’ standing as the game’s premier quarterback, argued on his podcast that Allen’s résumé lacks a defining victory. His framing was characteristically pointed: when asked to recall Allen’s greatest win, Wright claimed, fans’ minds instead drift to a defeat — most notably the Chiefs’ famous “13 seconds” playoff comeback against Buffalo.

Wright walked through a series of recent Buffalo postseason exits to make his case. He pointed to a home playoff loss as a favorite to Joe Burrow’s Bengals, a divisional-round defeat to Bo Nix’s Broncos in which Allen turned the ball over four times, and four playoff meetings with Mahomes in which Wright contends the Chiefs quarterback outplayed him each time.

He repeated the argument during a Tuesday appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast, adding that Allen has disproportionately benefited from the NFL’s expanded playoff format. As a frequent No. 2 seed, Wright noted, Allen has opened the postseason against lower-tier wild card competition — quarterbacks he described as far down the depth pyramid — while his postseason high-water mark remains a divisional round loss from several years ago.

The commentary arrives as Fox Corporation (FOXA), whose sports programming fuels debate-driven content like Wright’s, continues to lean into NFL coverage as a cornerstone of its schedule. Fox shares traded at $65.42 in recent action, down slightly from a prior close of $65.48, valuing the Communication Services company at roughly $27.7 billion.
