Jaxson Dart eager to see Odell Beckham Jr.’s highlight-reel catches translate to game day

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart says he has already seen enough spectacular grabs from Odell Beckham Jr. in practice to be excited about what the veteran receiver can deliver once games begin — and Beckham’s return to the franchise could come against a familiar opponent.

Speaking with reporters Wednesday, Dart referenced the acrobatic one-handed catches that have defined Beckham’s career, noting that the type of circus grab that once went viral from practice footage is something he now witnesses on a regular basis in team sessions. The quarterback said it would be remarkable to see those plays unfold in a live game, adding that Beckham is a player capable of “doing anything” when he is on the field.

Dart’s comments, which were shared by SNY Giants on social media, come as Beckham prepares for his second stint with the organization after signing with New York. The receiver’s first run with the Giants was marked by his famous one-handed touchdown catch against the Dallas Cowboys during his rookie season in 2014 — a play that remains one of the most iconic moments in recent NFL history.

The timing of Beckham’s return offers a notable storyline: the Giants will open their season against those same Cowboys on Sunday night at MetLife Stadium, giving Dart a chance to connect with Beckham against the division rival where he first made his mark.

Media stakes in the matchup

The prime-time kickoff carries significance beyond the field. Sunday night’s game is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC, part of the network’s long-running Sunday Night Football package. NBC’s parent company, Comcast (CMCSA), whose stock closed at $24.59, down 6.61% from the prior close of $26.33, has built much of its media strategy around marquee NFL programming, making high-profile storylines like Beckham’s return a valuable draw for advertisers and viewers alike.

For the Giants, the game also represents a first test for a revamped roster as the franchise looks to establish momentum early in the season under head coach John Harbaugh.
