TMRW Sports Nears $1 Billion Valuation in New Funding Round

TMRW Sports, the company behind Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s indoor golf league TGL, is wrapping up a funding round that would place its valuation above $1 billion, according to reporting from Front Office Sports.

The figure would be roughly double where the company stood two years ago, when its Series A round valued it near $500 million. A subsequent round last year reportedly lifted that to $650 million, led by Silver Lake co-CEOs Egon Durban and Greg Mondre alongside Patrick Whitesell’s WTSL, per CNBC Sport.

Negotiations have reportedly been underway since at least July, around the time of the World Cup final, with sources describing significant institutional backing. Dynasty Equity, which co-led the 2024 Series A with Connect Ventures, is expected to participate. Neither firm responded to requests for comment.

Founded in 2022 by Woods, McIlroy, and former Golf Channel president Mike McCarley, TMRW Sports operates TGL and the soon-to-launch women’s indoor league WTGL. The NFL has also tapped the company to build and run its planned professional flag football leagues for women and men. Its investor roster spans sports and entertainment figures including Falcons owner Arthur Blank, Steph Curry, Fenway Sports Group, Alexis Ohanian, Shaquille O’Neal, Michael Rubin, and Justin Bieber.

TGL’s third season begins in 2027. The league drew strong audiences in its second season, aided by Woods appearing in the Finals. Its original two-year media-rights agreement with ESPN has lapsed; ESPN, part of The Walt Disney Company — whose shares closed at $104.18 before trading up 0.61% to roughly $104.82 — is expected to pursue an extension, though nothing has been finalized.

WTGL’s debut season starts Nov. 8, with games airing on ESPN and Ion TV. Backers of the women’s league include Trybe Ventures, the investment vehicle of former USWNT star Alex Morgan, plus Mia Hamm and Abby Wambach. All five founding WTGL franchises have been sold to existing TGL ownership groups.

What to watch

  • Formal announcement of the completed funding round and confirmation of the $1 billion valuation.
  • Whether ESPN extends or renews media rights for TGL ahead of its third season in 2027.
