UConn Basketball Secures Class of 2027 Standout NaVorro Bowman Jr. After Labor Day Visit

The UConn men’s basketball program has picked up a significant early win on the recruiting trail, landing a commitment from NaVorro Bowman Jr., one of the most sought-after guards in the Class of 2027.

The commitment comes just days after Bowman and his family visited Storrs over Labor Day weekend, a trip hosted by head coach Dan Hurley and his staff. Bowman Sr. — a three-time Pro Bowl linebacker who starred for the San Francisco 49ers and later served as an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Chargers — accompanied his son on the visit.

News of the pledge circulated Thursday morning on social media, with reports crediting recruiter Adam Finkelstein and an announcement post from ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Bowman Jr. had shared photos from the Connecticut visit on his Instagram account, and had additional trips on his calendar: a planned visit to Illinois this weekend and one to Arizona later in the month. Instead, he ended his recruitment early with a commitment to the Huskies.

Bowman is a 6-foot-3 combo guard at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California. He ranks as the No. 11 overall player and the No. 2 combo guard nationally in 247Sports.com’s composite rankings, and On3 lists him 12th among all Class of 2027 prospects.

The visit was also the opener of a busy stretch for Hurley’s program, which is slated to host 12 prospects over a six-week window. Next up is Demarcus Henry, 247Sports’ No. 4 overall recruit in the country, scheduled for an official visit this weekend. Henry carries his own football lineage: his older brother, Chris Jr., is a highly regarded freshman receiver at Ohio State, and his father, Chris, played five seasons as a receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals before dying in a 2009 vehicle accident at age 26.
