Wisconsin Badgers Look to Reset Season in Home Opener Against Western Illinois

After a rough season-opening loss, the Wisconsin Badgers return to Camp Randall Stadium on Sept. 12 seeking to get their 2026 campaign back on track against FCS opponent Western Illinois. Kickoff is set for 6:15 p.m. with coverage on Big Ten Network.

Wisconsin dropped its Week 1 matchup at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, falling 41-13 to a then-No. 5 Notre Dame squad. The defeat has put early-season pressure on head coach Luke Fickell, whose program now turns to a home game that betting markets have priced as heavily one-sided — the Badgers enter as 38.5-point favorites.

Western Illinois arrives in Madison looking to slow a string of lopsided defeats. The Leathernecks, an FCS program, lost 41-10 to Illinois State in their most recent outing. Their recent ledger also includes a 52-3 defeat to then-No. 12 Illinois and a 42-7 setback against Northwestern in 2025, plus a 77-3 loss to Indiana in 2024.
