Despite the relief, the Seahawks have not established a return timetable. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Darnold is likely to miss a couple of games and characterized the muscular injury as not serious, with surgery not expected. Seattle showed in Week 1 that it can win without its starter. Backup Drew Lock stepped in against New England and completed 16 of 22 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown. The 28-year-old carries a 10-18 record across 28 career starts, including a 1-4 stint with the New York Giants in 2024.

Behind Lock on the depth chart sits Jalen Milroe, a 23-year-old former third-round pick out of Alabama who would be next in line should the injury situation worsen.
