You’re not gonna ruin it, either!” and responded to a question about Christian Gonzalez shadowing DK Metcalf by saying “I don’t recall” — before joking that he was merely mimicking courtroom television.

He also pushed back on a question about receiver Romeo Doubs, disputing the characterization of his Week 1 performance. “Rome dropped one ball last week in the first game,” Vrabel said, rejecting suggestions that he had dropped three passes.

The exchange drew quick attention on social media, including from Fox Corporation‘s Fox Sports NFL account, which shared a clip of the presser with the caption “No one was getting to Mike Vrabel.” Fox, whose entertainment-segment business spans sports broadcasting across cable and television, saw shares trade at $64.45 on Monday, down 0.82% from a previous close of $64.98, giving the company a market capitalization of roughly $26.8 billion.

Volin, for his part, responded to the exchange by posting a shrug emoji on X, reflecting the widespread confusion over Vrabel’s tone given the routine nature of the questions.

The comments came amid a backdrop in which many observers might have expected Vrabel to be more guarded — his offseason was marked by reporting-related controversy — yet Sunday’s session suggested a coach in no mood for media engagement of any kind, win or lose.
