Game time set for No. 1 Texas vs. No. 16 Florida

The No. 1 Texas Longhorns are set for an early start when head coach Steve Sarkisian’s team returns to Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on October 17 when the No. 16 Florida Gators come to Austin with the SEC announcing an 11 a.m. Central kickoff on Monday.

ABC or ESPN will televise the game.

Ranked No. 1 in both polls for the four straight week, the program’s longest stretch atop the AP Poll since 1977, Texas heads to Dallas for the Red River Rivalry against a reeling Oklahoma team that sits at 2-2 with road losses to Michigan and Georgia this season, putting offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle on the hot seat as quarterback John Mateer has struggled with game-changing turnovers. The Horns are a 7.5-point favorite over the Sooners, according to FanDuel.

Under first-year head coach Jon Sumrall, Florida is one of the surprise teams nationally, rising to No. 8 in the AP Poll after a 52-28 rout of then-No. 4 Ole Miss in Week 5. But winning on the road in the SEC is hard, as the Gators found out in Columbia over the weekend in a 45-17 defeat by the Tigers, who were able to stifle the prolific Florida rush attack that stars Jadan Baugh. Sumrall’s team enters Week 6 ranked No. 16 heading into a home game against South Carolina.
