Giannis Antetokounmpo takes shot at Milwaukee Bucks after learning about Heat Culture

October 5, 2026 · by SPW Pipeline

It’s a fun time to be a Miami Heat supporter, but Giannis Antetokounmpo might be rubbing in the experience to his former team and fanbase.

The NBA superstar completed a blockbuster move to the Heat this summer after spending 13 seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks. However, Antetokounmpo’s clearly excited to be starting a new chapter, and he’s letting his former team know about it.

Miami’s been known for Pat Riley’s famous Heat Culture since the legendary NBA figure joined the franchise in 1995. The 31-year-old Greek sensation is quickly learning about what that means and he shared an epic story about his introduction to Riley’s philosophy.

“Yesterday, we had a meeting …,” Antetokounmpo recently said, via NBA reporter Eric Nehm. “There were two Navy SEALs, and they were telling their story, and we were doing push-ups and s**t. It’s real, and I love every f**ing second of it. I’m not even gonna lie. It gives me goosebumps. It’s almost like being alive again.”

Not only is former NBA champion loving his early days with the Heat, but he’s clearly getting into excellent shape as well. The interesting thing about Giannis’ career is that he’s one of the quieter NBA superstars, but when he does speak his messages usually have strong meaning.

There’s clearly a lot of reasons why Giannis’ attitude has changed since joining the Heat. Milwaukee’s team has gone stale over recent seasons, including missing the playoffs during his final Bucks campaign.

Meanwhile, the two-time MVP likely needed a career shift several years ago, but he decided to stick it out like the true professional he is. Playing for the Heat gives Antetokounmpo an opportunity to compete for a championship with an exciting team.

The Eastern Conference is certainly bogged down with elite teams, including the defending champion New York Knicks. However, Antetokounmpo’s partnership with Bam Adebayo and Davion Mitchell gives Miami a legitimate shot to make some noise.

The Heat feature one of the better starting fives in the NBA and an elite head coach with Erik Spoelstra leading the way. Don’t be surprised if Giannis and his team compete for a championship during the 2026-2027 season.
