A pair of ALDS Game 2s are on the MLB playoff schedule for Monday, Oct. 5, as the NL teams have a travel day.
The Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland Guardians will open the day, with the New York Yankees vs. Tampa Bay Rays closing the night.
The sixth-seeded White Sox will look to stay perfect in the postseason after starting the playoffs with three straight road wins. In Game 1 of their ALDS series on Oct. 3, the White Sox used five pitchers for a 3-0 shutout win over the No. 2 Guardians, a team that edged Chicago by one game for the AL Central Division title.
On the other side of the bracket, the top-seeded Rays began their playoff run with a singular brilliant pitching performance from former Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Drew Rasmussen to shut out the Yankees, 1-0.
Rasmussen pitched 7⅔ innings of no-hit ball and finished with 10 strikeouts and one hit in eight innings against a Yankees lineup that had scored 18 runs in its two wild-card round wins.
Game 2 will feature another former Brewer taking the mound in Freddy Peralta, who joined Tampa Bay at the trade deadline in August after spending the first part of the season with the New York Mets. Peralta was a two-time All-Star in his eight years in Milwaukee and had six playoff starts, including three last season. The Yankees are countering with AL Cy Young Award favorite Cam Schlittler.
