The Chicago White Sox are one win away from the ALCS and they have the chance to do it in a way that hasn’t been done since 1906.
The Chicago White Sox have continued their excellent postseason run with a fourth consecutive victory. In Game 2 against the Cleveland Guardians, they came back from an early 2-0 deficit to eventually win the game 4-3. This has given them a commanding lead in the five-game series.
Chicago will now head back to Rate Field for Game 3, which gives them the chance to clinch the series in front of their fans. The White Sox have given themselves two chances to make it happen. If they manage to do it, it will be historically significant.
Chicago White Sox could clinch their first playoff series win at home since 1906
The White Sox are a historic franchise in American sports, although they have not enjoyed a lot of recent success. If they make it to the ALCS, it will be the first time in 21 years for the ball club. They won it all in 2005 but have struggled a fair bit since.
White Sox fans have suffered through a lot of disappointment. The three years before this one saw the team rack up 100 losses every season. Now, they have the chance to give their fans joy that no one currently alive has experienced.
The last time Chicago clinched a series in front of their fans at home was in 1906 against the Chicago Cubs. It has been a whopping 120 years since, which is almost a little hard to believe. They have two opportunities to do it, too.
The White Sox can win either Game 3 or Game 4, as both will be played in Chicago. Barring a total collapse from the team, their fans should get to celebrate this huge moment in the franchise’s existence.
