Gianluigi Donnarumma’s agent, Enzo Raiola, has disclosed that Manchester City have provided his client with reassurances following the club’s guilty verdict. City were found in breach of 114 financial regulations by an independent panel but continue to deny any wrongdoing.

City have filed their appeal against the ruling, yet there is understandable anxiety surrounding the futures of several key players. Donnarumma, who joined last summer, is among those affected, though his representatives have been assured that "sporting justice" will prevail.

"Will the Manchester City chaos change anything? No, nothing will change for us or for Gigio," Raiola told Radio Napoli Centrale. "News comes out periodically. The club has spoken with Gigio and everyone is calm.

"Now there are important games against Liverpool and PSG, then sporting justice will take its course. But Gigio has had reassurances from Manchester City."

Official statements from the club have struck a similar tone, with chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak insisting attention remains firmly fixed on forthcoming fixtures, while CEO Ferran Soriano has maintained their innocence and pledged to keep fighting, as per The Mirror.

The verdict surfacing at the very start of the international break resulted in reduced scrutiny on the club, with no press conferences or matches on their schedule.

City’s players managed to sidestep any public comment, with Norway relieving Erling Haaland of his press duties last month. He flew back to Manchester straight after Norway’s final match, following fitness worries that prompted him to request an early substitution.

A visit to Liverpool represents their opening challenge since the guilty ruling was delivered, with an exceptionally hostile reception anticipated at Anfield.

They are arguably the organization that has suffered most from City’s rule violations and were among four clubs that served them legal notice of their intention to pursue damages.

The Telegraph has subsequently reported that Liverpool, along with Manchester United, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur, the other three clubs planning legal action, were notified of City’s guilty ruling ahead of the remaining Premier League clubs.

All of City’s domestic competitors hold the view that they should be removed from the top division but it may not be that straightforward. That is despite the fact the sanction hearing is scheduled to occur over the coming months even with the appeal process underway.

With no further international football on the calendar until November, domestic competition returns to the forefront. City sit atop the standings thanks to their perfect winning streak, but a shadow has been thrown over their remarkable start to the campaign and achievements since initially capturing the title back in 2012.
