Lamar Jackson development leaves door open for Week 5 return against Falcons
Lamar Jackson still has a chance to play for the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5, but Wednesday brought a reminder that his ankle injury remains a real concern.

Jackson did not practice Wednesday as Baltimore began preparing for Sunday’s matchup with the Atlanta Falcons. However, ESPN Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley reported that Jackson is a game-time decision after tests showed no major damage to his ankle.
That is an encouraging development for Baltimore after Jackson left Sunday’s 24-18 win over the Tennessee Titans and did not return for the second half.
Lamar Jackson injury update
Jackson suffered the ankle injury during the Ravens’ Week 4 victory and was later seen leaving the stadium in a protective boot. Baltimore initially remained optimistic that the injury would not keep him out for an extended period.
The latest information gives the Ravens some hope, but it does not guarantee Jackson will suit up against Atlanta.
Jackson has been one of the league’s most productive quarterbacks through four games. He has completed 68 of 101 passes for 967 yards, six touchdowns and one interception while adding 144 rushing yards. His 119.6 passer rating ranks among the NFL’s best.
That production explains why Baltimore would love to have its two-time MVP back under center.
Tyler Huntley is the insurance plan after stepping in for Jackson against Tennessee. Huntley completed 8 of 9 passes for 63 yards in the second half and helped Baltimore finish the win. He has also made 11 career starts for the Ravens, giving the team some experience if Jackson cannot go.

The timing makes Sunday’s game even more interesting. Baltimore enters Week 5 at 3-1, while Atlanta is 2-2. The Ravens will travel to Mercedes-Benz Stadium for an 8:20 p.m. ET Sunday night matchup.
For now, the Ravens have reason to feel better about Jackson’s outlook without assuming he will play.
The next few practices should tell Baltimore much more. If Jackson can increase his workload without setbacks, the door remains open for him to face the Falcons. If the ankle continues to limit him, Huntley will likely get another opportunity to keep the Ravens moving.
Either way, Wednesday’s update was better than the Ravens could have feared after losing their quarterback in the middle of Sunday’s win.
