Enzo Maresca is eager to share another celebratory moment with Manchester City supporters on Wednesday, having acknowledged the hardships they have been enduring. The City boss and his players joined the traveling faithful at Anfield on Sunday following the 3-0 victory in the first fixture since the club were found guilty of breaching Premier League regulations.
City’s players, staff and fans have all been subjected to the scrutiny surrounding the club since news of their rule violations emerged nearly three weeks ago. At Liverpool on Sunday, banners declared their titles tainted while chants of ‘cheats’ rang out whenever the Blues had possession.
Maresca’s men kept their composure and delivered a commanding 3-0 win before making their way over to their supporters to mark the occasion.

"It probably has been more tough for our fans than for the players or for me because it’s probably more complicated," said Maresca, as per the Manchester Evening News. "If I am an Arsenal fan or a United fan and you are a City fan, I can tell you, ‘Hey, my friend, you cheat’ or this kind of thing. So it probably has been more tough for them.
"But again, we were happy at the end of the game inside the changing room. We were very happy celebrating the three points because we know how difficult it is at Anfield away. So that’s why we were very happy."
Focus now shifts to Paris Saint-Germain as City look to maintain their flawless start under Maresca. Having won each of their opening eight matches this season, the manager is calling for a strong show of support against the back-to-back UEFA Champions League winners on Wednesday, with ex-boss Pep Guardiola set to attend.
"Anfield was unbelievable because even if the environment was the environment that we know, the fans were there from the beginning of the game," said Maresca. "They brought their passion and their voice and hopefully they can do the same tomorrow night, and then Ipswich at home on Saturday where we need to continue.
