Florida State football dismisses former 5-Star DB Chuck Kennon
Florida State has dismissed defensive back Chuck Kennon from its football program, thinning the Seminoles’ secondary as they enter one of the season’s biggest games.
Kennon, a former five-star prospect in FSU’s 2026 recruiting class and the program’s highest-rated prospect, has been removed from the Seminoles’ roster. School officials confirmed he is no longer with the team, citing conduct deemed detrimental to the program.
The Sarasota native arrived in Tallahassee as one of the nation’s most coveted defensive backs. Ranked as the top-ranked cornerback in USA Today’s Florida Top 100 prospects, Kennon held offers from several powerhouse programs, including Georgia, Florida and Miami.
Despite lofty expectations surrounding his arrival, Kennon played one snap for FSU this season against Virginia.
His departure leaves the Seminoles with one less defensive back as they prepare for a critical rivalry matchup against unbeaten Miami. Florida State, currently 3-3 (1-2), has spent the week focused on slowing one of the nation’s most explosive offenses before Saturday’s 7 p.m. kickoff.
