Who is William Contreras, Milwaukee Brewers NLCS Game 2 hero?

October 13, 2026 · by SPW Pipeline

The Milwaukee Brewers, led by catcher William Contreras, took a confident 2-0 lead over the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2026 NLCS. Contreras had three of the Brewers 12 hits with three RBIs.

Contreras is part of a Brewers team that has the 19th highest payroll in MLB. Milwaukee is a smaller market so not everyone might be familiar with him.

The 28 year old native of Venezuala signed with the Atlanta Braves organization as a teenager. He made his MLB debut in 2020.

He was part of the 2021 Atlanta Braves World Series championship team.

Contreras was traded to the Brewers in 2023. He is a three-time All Star and two-time Silver Slugger.

Contreras’ older brother plays for the Boston Red Sox

William’s older brother Wilson played for the Red Sox in 2026. He was both a catcher and first baseman. Before joining the Red Sox, he played for the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals.

The two played together in the 2022 All Star Game (William replaced the injured Bryce Harper) and on the Venezualan gold medal 2026 World Baseball Classic team.

He is engaged to a former teammate’s sister

Contreras’ fiance is former Brewers shortstop Willy Adames’ sister Nixali Adames.

Adames played for two of this year’s championship series teams, Tampa Bay from 2018-2021, Milwaukee from 2021-2024. He is currently with the San Francisco Giants.
