Elijah Brown will likely get his first start as a Husky on Friday in West Lafeyette. Does he offer the Huskies hope for their first Big Ten conference win this season?
Football Dots
- UW coaches and players met with the media yesterday.
- Ryan Walters said that there were a lot of “uncharacteristic mistakes” in the game against Iowa, and their tackling was “Awful”. He said that the defense was “focused wanting to get the taste out of their mouth from last Friday”. They’ll need that focus a different type of offense against Purdue. Dawgman has a ($) transcript of the interview with the media.
- Coach Cummings also talked to the media. He liked the way the receivers attacked the ball in the second half of the game, but he also said that the receivers need to be more physical to help with the running game. Dawgman has ($) a transcript.
- Derek Coleman-Brusa and Buddah Al-Uqdah were the defensive players that met with the media. Derek mentioned the “importance of doing your job”. Dawgman has ($) a transcript.
- Champ Taulealea and John Mills were the offensive players that met with the media. John mentioned that it’s “very frustrating and angry but we have to push on”. Dawgman has ($) a transcript.
- You can watch all of those interviews here:
- Dan Raley has a look at how Elijah Brown has put himself in position to start for UW. The article includes a list of Elijah’s stats in each of the games that he has played so far in college, including his 4 starts at Stanford-once in 2024 and three games in 2025.
- Sports Illustrated has listed 9 prominent programs that have greatly underperformed so far this season. Not surprising to Husky fans, UW is one of those programs. Penn State, Oregon, and Michigan are the other Big Ten programs on that list.
- The initial injury report for the Purdue game is out. Quite a few UW players are listed, although most are just “Questionable” at this time. Unfortunately Xe’ree Alexander is likely out for a “substantial amount of time” with a high-ankle sprain.
Not only did Iowa beat @UW_Football on the scoreboard, they left the Huskies licking their wounds. Demond Williams the biggest name listed but a lot of players could be out for Friday’s game at Purdue. @Dawgman247pic.twitter.com/zk7LQhGbr4
