Here’s when Cincinnati Bearcats, Utah Utes kick off on Halloween

A day after finding out their Homecoming game would be at noon on Oct. 24 vs. Texas Tech, the Cincinnati Bearcats already have a kickoff time for their Halloween matchup with the Utah Utes.

After playing the 8th-ranked Red Raiders at the 100th Homecoming at Nippert Stadium, the likewise undefeated and 10th-ranked Utes come to town for the first time Oct. 31.

The game is set for a 3:45 p.m. kickoff, according to the Big 12. It will air on either ESPN or ESPN2, with the decision coming after this weekend’s games.

Utah just beat Colorado 27-24 in Boulder to go to 6-0. Saturday, Oct. 24 the Utes are home in Salt Lake City, hosting No. 14 Houston which will be a 9:15 p.m. (Eastern) kickoff on ESPN.

The Bearcats face No. 8 Texas Tech, No. 10 Utah and No. 14 Houston on consecutive weekends.

Cincinnati Bearcats, Utah Utes football history

Last season was the first meeting between the two teams, with ESPN College GameDay in Salt Lake City the morning of the game. The Bearcats were 7-1 at the time, but Utah pulled away in Mountain Time for the 45-14 victory.

It was an inaccurate game for then-quarterback Brendan Sorsby, who was just 11-for-33 passing for 221 yards, 88 of those coming on a pass to Cyrus Allen that went for a touchdown.

Morgan Scalley was the defensive coordinator for Kyle Whittingham in that game and when Whittingham went to Michigan, Scalley was elevated to head coach. It’s also a first for him to come to Nippert Stadium.

"From talking to other coaches, it’s an incredible environment," Scalley said. "I’ve got respect for Scott (Satterfield) and his staff and what they’ve been able to do. My guess is it will be a blackout event or something like that."

There’s been no decision on uniforms, and the clocks don’t fall back until 2 a.m., so the sky won’t be quite black until near the end of the contest.
